The Importance of Eating a Healthy Breakfast

Eating healthy is important because it helps people stay fit and fight off diseases. Your body need lots of energy to carry out your daily activities. Food is where your body gets this energy. Some foods give your body the energy it needs and some foods take away that energy. The foods that give your body energy also provide nutrients that your body needs. these nutrients fight off the diseases and keep you from getting sick.

Dippy Breakfast

Dippy Breakfast
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients
1 container (6 oz) vanilla yogurt
1/4 cup peanut butter
2 tablespoons breakfast cereal
1 apple, cored
1 orange, cored
2 slices cinnamon or whole wheat bread, toasted

Directions
1) Combine yogurt and peanut butter in a small bowl and stir until blended. Divide mixture between 2 small bowls; sprinkle with cereal. Place bowls on serving plates.
2) Cut apple into wedges and separate orange into segments. Arrange fruit pieces around dip. Cut toast into strips and place half of the strips on each plate.

Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients
1 banana
3 strawberries
1/4 cup fresh blueberries
1 tablespoon granola
1 container (6 oz) strawberry yogurt
1 maraschino cherry

Directions
1) Peel banana and slice lengthwise. Place banana in serving dish and separate halves.
2) Top with half of the strawberries and blueberries. Spoon yogurt over berries.
3) Top with remaining berries; sprinkle with granola. Garnish with cherry.

A healthy snack will benefit your diet, therefore can lead to better overall performance of the mind and body.

Kale Chips

Kale Chips
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients
1 bunch of kale
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon seasoned salt

Directions
1) Preheat an oven to 350 degrees. line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2) With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear into bite sized pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner. Drizzle kale with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt.
3) Bake until the edges are brown, but not burnt, 10 to 15 minutes.

Banana Pops
Prep time: 10 minutes

Ingredients
4 large bananas
2 cups fruit-flavored yogurt
1 cup crushed cereal

Directions
1) Peel the bananas, leave whole, and dip them in yogurt.
2) Roll them in the crushed cereal to coat. Freeze until firm.

Ants on a Log Recipe

Ants on a Logs
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Yield: 10 servings

Ingredients
5 stalks celery, washed and trimmed
1/2 cup peanut butter OR cream cheese
1/4 cup raisins and/or dried fruit

Directions
1) Cut the celery stalks in half.
2) Spread the peanut butter or cream cheese in the cavity of each piece of celery.
3) Arrange the raisins and/or dried fruit along the top of the cream cheese or peanut butter.
